Uninvited Guest

uninvited guest

Don’t you hate it when you get an uninvited guest?

uninvited guest
Life is an adventure. It’s always throwing curveballs at you even though it knows full well you don’t play sports ever since that incident in kickball. This week’s surprise came in the form of a flash out of the corner of my eye.

What was that?!

It was a super fast moving shadow, but I couldn’t get my brain to process what it saw. Did I make it up? Did I need a nap?

But then it happened again, a flash moving in the opposite direction!

That’s when I knew we either had a ginormous radioactive roach in the apartment or a Speedy Gonzalez.

After a bit more observation, it turned out to be the latter. Which is a big problem because I freaking love mice. The ears. The whiskers. The teeny tiny hands. *implodes*

The trap hasn’t worked yet, but I’m ever hopeful. It’s also weird how this whole trying-to-catch-an-animal thing has tapped into a deep part of my hindbrain. I’m like in full-on animal-tracking mode. What is it thinking? Where is it pooping? What is it chewing? And please to bees don’t let it die inside our walls and stink up the whole apartment. Sometimes my reactions seem a little silly, hence this week’s comic.

Uninvited Guest

In my defense, the water’s next to the trap and the food is in it. Will I catch it? Stay tuned to find out.

Great Ideas

Giggle at my awkwardness. Revel in your superior art skills. This Writer Can't Draw. New comics on Tuesdays.

This is going to be the BEST story ever! Typity type-type typing. Why'd I think yodeling were-goats in space was a good idea?
It may be a terrible idea, but I totally want to write a story about yodeling were-goats in space now. Bonus points if they’re on a lunar colony. All goat all the time.

What are your wonderfully awful story ideas? Share in the comments below. 🙂

Thank you so much for stopping by. I’ll see you again next week. *waves*

Wishing you the best,

Mammals Are Weird

Giggle at my awkwardness. Revel in your superior art skills. This Writer Can't Draw. New comics on Tuesdays.
Lady says, We got a bearded dragon. His name is Gizmo. I wonder what he thinks about us. Gizmo thinks: Is that a bug? Can I lick this? Are you a bug? Got any more bugs?
He is the most dog-like reptile I’ve ever met. And I love him. <3

The Dream (Comic)

The dream. All the stuff I do. This comic, articles, books, knitted items, crocheted items, web graphics, book reviews. When combined with people with disposable income who are living their life and doing their thing, my mom among them, you get happy customers and an artist that can buy food and generally stay alive. The reality. All the stuff I do. Ramble incoherently. Freak out about marketing. Juggle social media accounts. Pretend I don't have a headache. Feel like a general failure. Pass out in a puddle of exhaustion. Hide from trolls. Obsess over stats. Wish I could afford a dog. Avoid humans of all kinds. Glare at deadlines. Meets with my mom. One guess who the mystery patron on my Patreon is. There is a chasm of eternal despair between myself and people with disposable income. The number of people with disposable income today is significantly smaller than it was before the U.S. election.
Does this hamster wheel have an off button?

Wishing you the best,

Ditrie Marie Bowie

Focused (Comic)

Comic. Panel one. Man and woman sit on couch, each holding mobile devices. Woman says, I'm reading the first draft now. Man says, k. Panel two. Man and woman are focused on their devices. Panel three. Man says, we should get a goat. Woman blinks. Panel four. Man and woman return to focusing on their devices. Panel five. Man says, I take your silence as an agreement. So that settles it. We're getting a goat. Woman sighs. End of comic.
This is the number one reason I follow Goats of Anarchy.

Things I Do While Writing

Things I do while writing. Listed from least amount to greatest. One. Looking up what that thingamabob with the thinger on the thingy is called. Two. Finding definitions for words I already know. Three. Scouring a thesaurus so I can replace that one word I use a billion times. Four. Compiling a search history that almost certainly has me flagged by the NSA. Five. Pacing. Six. Swearing. End of pie chart.
I also swear profusely while drawing, gaming, crocheting, knitting, and pretty much anything that involves skill. Fun fact: I almost never swear in public.
